Southwest Backcountry
Explore the Beaver Dam Wilderness and Pioneer Ruins. |
|

 |
One of our favorite places to camp and explore is
"The Valley of
Fire". It is one of those
places people seldom hear of, but it is definitely a "WOW" place! |
|
| |
 |
Gold Butte, NV is a
great place to explore the desert and mountains in our area. It is also a
great place to "dry camp" in a desert setting. |

Have you tried to find the petroglyph site (Falling Man) at Whitney Pocket?
This link will help. |

Lake Mead was formed by the
Hoover dam across the Colorado River. You can drive there in about an hour
from Beaver Dam. You can "dry camp" above the lake. Good fishing and
boating. |
|
| |
 |
There are
hundreds of Geocaches around the Beaver Dam area. Maybe a Beaver Dam
Geocaching club? |
|
| |
 |
Zion National Park is only an
hour and twenty minutes from Beaver Dam. It's a beautiful park all year.
Even in Winter. |
|
| |
 |
If you are looking for a park closer to Beaver Dam, you won't want to miss
Snow Canyon State Park
in Utah. You can even camp with your RV in the campground. |
|
| |
 |
There are many, many desert and mountain roads, washes and trails to explore
in the area. Just north of Beaver Dam is the
Pass from
CO Hwy 91 to Cedar
Pockets at I-15 in the gorge. The road passes through the
Beaver Dam Mountain
Wilderness and is passable in a small car or pick-up truck, but better to
take a higher clearance vehicle. |

 |
The drive out to the monument for the corner of
Utah, Arizona and the Nevada state line
is an easy one. Short wheel base and 4 wheel drive would be advisable. |
